Boarding Homes

There are facilities who hold themselves out to be the providers of certain care such as Alzeheimers care. Boarding home facilities do not provide nursing home care. Boarding homes for residential care are licensed by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs as Class C boarding homes.

The regulations provide that residents of these boarding homes must be transferred to a facility which offers a higher level of care, if the resident requires treatment for pressure ulcers beyond stage I, if the resident needs a certain therapeutic diet including fluid intake that requires nursing monitors, or if the resident is bed bound or requires repositioning due to progression of disease or due to a medically disabling conditions.
